Which companies sponsor visas for physician assistants in Georgia?
Emory Healthcare, Wellstar Health System, Grady Health System, Piedmont Healthcare, and the Augusta University Health System are among the larger Georgia employers with documented histories of sponsoring work visas for clinical roles including physician assistants. Federally qualified health centers and rural health networks across the state also sponsor, particularly through the H-1B visa and J-1 visa categories, given persistent workforce shortages in underserved areas.
Which visa types are most common for physician assistant roles in Georgia?
The H-1B is the most common visa for physician assistants in Georgia, as the role generally qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a master's degree from an accredited PA program. The J-1 visa is another pathway, typically used through exchange visitor programs affiliated with academic medical centers. Some employers in shortage areas also support permanent residency sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 classifications after an initial nonimmigrant visa period.
Which cities in Georgia have the most physician assistant sponsorship jobs?
Atlanta accounts for the largest share of physician assistant sponsorship opportunities in Georgia, driven by its concentration of major hospital systems, specialty practices, and academic medical centers. Augusta is a strong secondary market, anchored by Wellstar MCG Health and the AU Health system. Savannah and Macon also have active demand, particularly within regional hospital networks and primary care settings serving surrounding rural counties.
How to find physician assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Georgia?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship roles, including physician assistant positions in Georgia. You can filter by state and job title to surface employers actively hiring PAs who require sponsorship. This is more targeted than general job searches because listings are curated for sponsorship eligibility, saving time that would otherwise be spent vetting individual employers on sponsorship willingness.
Are there state-specific factors physician assistants should know about working in Georgia?
Georgia physician assistants must hold a state license issued by the Georgia Composite Medical Board, and international candidates should confirm their credentials meet Georgia's educational and examination requirements before applying. Georgia has a notable shortage of PAs in rural and underserved areas, which can improve sponsorship prospects at community health centers that qualify for National Health Service Corps funding. Employers in these settings may offer additional incentives alongside visa support.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physician assistant jobs in Georgia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
