Which companies sponsor visas for physician assistants in Indiana?
The largest sponsors for physician assistant roles in Indiana include Indiana University Health, one of the state's biggest employers, along with Eskenazi Health, Parkview Health, and Franciscan Health. Community Health Network and Ascension St. Vincent also hire PAs across multiple Indiana locations. Sponsorship is more common at large health systems than at independent or rural private practices, which typically have fewer HR resources to manage visa petitions.
Which visa types are most common for physician assistant roles in Indiana?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for physician assistants in Indiana, as PA roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring a master's degree. Some international PAs working at federally qualified health centers or underserved clinics may pursue J-1 visa Conrad 30 waivers, which waive the two-year home residency requirement in exchange for service in a Health Professional Shortage Area. Employer type and practice setting generally determine which pathway applies.
How to find physician assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate is the most targeted way to find physician assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana. The platform filters job listings specifically to roles where employers are open to sponsorship, saving you from sifting through postings from practices that won't consider international candidates. You can filter by state and role, making it straightforward to surface Indiana-based PA openings at health systems with known sponsorship histories.
Which cities in Indiana have the most physician assistant sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis generates the highest volume of physician assistant sponsorship opportunities in Indiana, driven by the concentration of major health systems and the presence of the IU School of Medicine. Fort Wayne is the second most active market, anchored by Parkview Health and Lutheran Health Network. South Bend, Evansville, and Muncie also have active PA hiring through regional hospital systems, though at lower volumes than the two primary metros.
Are there any Indiana-specific considerations for physician assistants seeking visa sponsorship?
Indiana participates in the J-1 Conrad 30 waiver program, which allows international medical professionals, including PAs at some sites, to apply for a waiver of the home residency requirement if they commit to serving in a designated underserved area for at least three years. Indiana's rural counties have persistent PA shortages, which can make sponsorship more accessible at federally qualified health centers and critical access hospitals than in competitive urban markets.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physician assistant jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
