Which companies sponsor visas for physician assistants in Wisconsin?
The largest sponsors for physician assistant roles in Wisconsin are major health systems, including UW Health, Froedtert Health, Marshfield Clinic Health System, Ascension Wisconsin, and Aurora Health Care (part of Advocate Health). These organizations have dedicated HR and legal infrastructure to support H-1B petitions and are among the most consistent sponsors in the state for clinical PA positions.
Which visa types are most common for physician assistant roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B visa is the most common path for internationally trained physician assistants in Wisconsin. PA roles typically qualify as specialty occupations because they require at minimum a master's degree and national certification. Some foreign-trained PAs also pursue J-1 visa waivers through Wisconsin's Conrad 30 program, which places physicians and advanced practice providers in underserved areas of the state in exchange for a work obligation.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most physician assistant sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee and Madison account for the majority of physician assistant sponsorship opportunities in Wisconsin, driven by their concentration of hospital systems and academic medical centers. Marshfield is a notable secondary hub given Marshfield Clinic's large multispecialty network. Green Bay and Appleton also have growing healthcare sectors through ThedaCare and Prevea Health that periodically recruit internationally for PA positions.
How to find physician assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find physician assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin. The platform filters job listings specifically by sponsorship availability, so you can see which Wisconsin health systems and clinics are actively hiring PAs and willing to support visa petitions, without sorting through roles that won't consider international candidates. Search by role and state to focus your application effort efficiently.
Are there state-specific considerations for physician assistants seeking sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin participates in the federal Conrad 30 J-1 waiver program, which allows internationally trained advanced practice providers, including PAs in some cases, to waive the two-year home residency requirement by committing to work in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) for at least three years. Rural Wisconsin has significant HPSA designations, making this pathway particularly relevant for PAs open to positions outside major metro areas.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physician assistant jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
