Which companies sponsor visas for physician assistants in Washington?
The most active sponsors for physician assistant roles in Washington include UW Medicine, Providence Health and Services, MultiCare Health System, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, and PeaceHealth. These large health systems have established immigration processes and regularly file H-1B visa petitions for clinical staff. Smaller independent practices and rural health clinics also sponsor occasionally, though less frequently than major hospital networks.
Which visa types are most common for physician assistant roles in Washington?
The H-1B is the most common visa for physician assistants in Washington because the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a master's degree in most cases. Some international PAs with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for TN visa status, which has a more straightforward process. J-1 visas also appear in academic medical settings connected to UW Medicine's training programs.
Which cities in Washington have the most physician assistant sponsorship jobs?
Seattle accounts for the largest concentration of physician assistant sponsorship roles in Washington, driven by UW Medical Center, Swedish Health Services, and numerous specialty clinics. Spokane is the second-largest market, with Providence and MultiCare operating major facilities there. Tacoma and Bellevue also have meaningful hiring activity. Rural and underserved areas in Eastern Washington sometimes offer sponsorship tied to loan repayment or shortage area programs.
How to find physician assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find physician assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Washington, with listings filtered specifically for roles where employers have indicated sponsorship willingness. Because many health systems in Washington regularly file H-1B petitions for PA roles, searching Migrate Mate for physician assistant positions in Seattle, Spokane, and Tacoma will surface the most relevant opportunities without requiring manual verification of each employer's sponsorship history.
Are there any Washington-specific considerations for physician assistants seeking visa sponsorship?
Washington requires physician assistants to hold a state license issued by the Washington State Department of Health, and employers initiating an H-1B petition will typically need the license secured before filing. Washington's prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B process are determined by the Department of Labor based on the specific metro area, so compensation offers in Seattle often reflect higher prevailing wage tiers than positions in rural Eastern Washington counties.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physician assistant jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
