University Pain Centers, an affiliate of Rush University Medical Center, is seeking a highly motivated Physician Assistant to join our dynamic, patient-centered pain management team of physicians, pain fellows, medical residents, and other support staff. This role offers the opportunity to practice in an evidence-based, high-quality clinical environment alongside nationally recognized pain specialists.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical
- Completes and documents accurate patient histories and physical examinations in a timely manner.
- Conducts comprehensive or episodic health assessments and develops patient care plans.
- Orders and interprets tests, treatments, and therapies within the scope of practice.
- Prescribes medications, including controlled substances, to the extent delegated, and utilizes nonpharmacologic treatment modalities as appropriate.
- Orders, interprets, and performs laboratory and other diagnostic tests and procedures.
- Provides direct patient care in assigned areas, which may include hospital or ambulatory settings.
Professional
- Works collaboratively with supervising physicians, departmental staff, and other members of the healthcare team in an effective and comprehensive manner.
- Acts as an advocate for patients, families, coworkers, and the physician assistant profession.
- Participates in all required provider activities as outlined in the RUMC Medical Staff Bylaws.
- Integrates evidence-based knowledge and clinical expertise into decision-making.
- Demonstrates competency in all medical and surgical procedures and skills essential to the area of practice.
- Maintains board certification, state licensure, and continuing medical education as required by hospital, state, and federal policy.
Education
- Provides relevant and comprehensive patient education to patients, families, and significant others.
- Fosters the growth and development of students and other healthcare professionals.
- Continuously assesses personal capabilities and limitations, striving to improve clinical practice.
- Uses knowledge and expertise to contribute to community health improvement.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Illinois PA licensure
- Strong EMR proficiency
- NCCPA certification (PANCE)
- Solid grasp of current practice trends & technology
- Master's from an ARC-PA accredited PA program
- Strong work ethic & communication skills
- Current BLS certification
- Comfortable working autonomously and in teams
