Which companies sponsor visas for physician assistants in Oklahoma?
The largest sponsors of physician assistant visas in Oklahoma include OU Health, Integris Health, Ascension St. John Medical Center, Saint Francis Health System, and SSM Health. These health systems operate across multiple specialties and have documented H-1B sponsorship histories. Federally Qualified Health Centers and rural health clinics in Oklahoma also sponsor PAs, sometimes with access to the National Interest Waiver pathway for underserved community placements.
Which visa types are most common for physician assistant roles in Oklahoma?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway for physician assistants in Oklahoma, as PA roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring a master's degree. Some PAs working in Health Professional Shortage Areas may qualify for the J-1 Conrad 30 waiver, which converts a J-1 research visa into work authorization in exchange for service in an underserved area. TN status does not cover physician assistants.
Which cities in Oklahoma have the most physician assistant sponsorship jobs?
Oklahoma City and Tulsa account for the majority of physician assistant sponsorship opportunities in Oklahoma, driven by their large academic medical centers and multi-specialty hospital networks. Lawton, Norman, and Edmond also have active PA hiring, primarily through regional hospital systems and outpatient clinics. Rural areas across western and southeastern Oklahoma can present additional opportunities tied to underserved-area programs and federal health shortage designations.
How to find physician assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Oklahoma?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find physician assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Oklahoma. The platform filters jobs specifically by sponsorship availability, so you can browse PA roles at Oklahoma health systems without sorting through positions that don't offer visa support. Filtering by specialty, such as primary care or surgical services, helps narrow results to the roles most likely to be open to international candidates in this state.
Are there state-specific considerations for physician assistants seeking sponsorship in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma has a significant number of federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas, which can work in favor of internationally trained PAs. Employers in these zones may have stronger incentives to sponsor visas and may be eligible for J-1 Conrad 30 waivers. Oklahoma also has active PA training programs at OU Health and other institutions, so competition for urban roles can be meaningful; targeting underserved or rural postings may improve sponsorship prospects.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physician assistant jobs in Oklahoma?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
