Which companies sponsor visas for physician assistants in Utah?
Intermountain Health and University of Utah Health are Utah's largest PA employers and have established histories of sponsoring work visas for qualified clinical staff. SCL Health (now part of Intermountain), VA Salt Lake City Healthcare System, and community health centers receiving federal funding also hire PAs with visa sponsorship. Federally Qualified Health Centers in rural Utah are particularly active sponsors, as they operate under workforce shortage designations that support foreign-trained clinicians.
Which visa types are most common for physician assistant roles in Utah?
The H-1B is the most common visa for physician assistants in Utah, as PA roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring a master's degree and national certification. Some PA positions at nonprofit hospitals or academic medical centers, such as University of Utah Health, may qualify for cap-exempt H-1B filings, bypassing the annual lottery. The J-1 Conrad 30 waiver program is another pathway for foreign national clinicians willing to serve in Utah's designated underserved areas.
Which cities in Utah have the most physician assistant sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City and its surrounding suburbs, including Murray, Sandy, and West Valley City, account for the largest concentration of PA sponsorship opportunities in Utah, driven by the density of Intermountain and University of Utah facilities. Provo and Ogden also have meaningful PA demand through regional hospitals and specialty clinics. More rural areas such as St. George, Moab, and the Uintah Basin actively recruit PAs due to persistent workforce shortages in those communities.
How to find physician assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate filters PA job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify Utah employers actively hiring international candidates. Rather than sifting through general job postings, you can search physician assistant roles in Utah on Migrate Mate and see which positions come with sponsorship. Given that cap-exempt opportunities at academic medical centers move quickly, checking Migrate Mate regularly is a practical way to stay current on openings.
Are there state-specific considerations for physician assistants seeking visa sponsorship in Utah?
Utah's significant rural and frontier geography creates workforce shortage designations across several counties, which can open additional sponsorship pathways such as the J-1 Conrad 30 waiver or National Health Service Corps placements for PAs willing to commit to underserved area service. University of Utah's PA program also creates a pipeline of graduates familiar with local employers, meaning competition for sponsored urban positions can be meaningful. PAs with emergency medicine, primary care, or psychiatry experience tend to find stronger interest from Utah sponsors.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physician assistant jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
