Which companies sponsor visas for physician assistants in Kentucky?
The most active sponsors for physician assistant roles in Kentucky include UK HealthCare, University of Louisville Health, Norton Healthcare, Baptist Health, and Appalachian Regional Healthcare. Large academic medical centers and regional hospital networks are the most consistent sponsors because they have dedicated HR and legal infrastructure to manage H-1B petitions. Federally qualified health centers serving rural and underserved areas also sponsor PAs, sometimes with additional incentive programs tied to shortage area designations.
Which visa types are most common for physician assistant roles in Kentucky?
The H-1B is the most common visa for physician assistants in Kentucky, as PA roles consistently qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a master's degree in physician assistant studies. Some PAs working at nonprofit or government-affiliated health systems may also be eligible for cap-exempt H-1B filings, which bypass the annual lottery. J-1 visa waivers are another pathway, particularly for PAs willing to work in Health Professional Shortage Areas in rural Kentucky.
Which cities in Kentucky have the most physician assistant sponsorship jobs?
Louisville and Lexington account for the majority of physician assistant sponsorship opportunities in Kentucky, driven by their large academic medical centers, multi-specialty practices, and dense hospital networks. Lexington's presence of UK HealthCare and the University of Kentucky health system makes it a particularly active market. Bowling Green and Owensboro also have growing regional hospital systems with documented PA hiring. Rural eastern Kentucky sees demand through safety-net providers, though sponsoring employers are fewer.
How to find physician assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Kentucky?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find physician assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Kentucky, with listings filtered specifically for roles where employers have indicated sponsorship availability. Because PA sponsorship varies significantly by employer size and health system, filtering by Kentucky and searching for physician assistant roles on Migrate Mate helps you focus on employers actively open to international candidates rather than applying broadly and discovering sponsorship limitations late in the process.
Are there any state-specific considerations for physician assistants seeking visa sponsorship in Kentucky?
Kentucky has a relatively high proportion of rural and underserved communities, which creates demand for PAs in Health Professional Shortage Areas. Employers in these designations may have stronger incentive to sponsor international candidates and, in some cases, access J-1 waiver slots through the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services. Kentucky also has an active PA training pipeline through the University of Kentucky and Sullivan University, which can influence employer familiarity with recruiting and sponsoring new graduate PAs.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physician assistant jobs in Kentucky?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
