Which companies sponsor visas for physician assistants in North Dakota?
Sanford Health, Essentia Health, and CHI St. Alexius Health are among the larger employers in North Dakota that have sponsored work visas for physician assistants. Critical access hospitals and rural health clinics in smaller communities also sponsor PAs, particularly where recruiting domestically is difficult. Sponsorship availability varies by facility, open role, and the employer's experience with the immigration process.
Which visa types are most common for physician assistant roles in North Dakota?
The H-1B is the most common visa for physician assistants in North Dakota, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a master's degree. The J-1 visa is another pathway, particularly through clinical exchange programs tied to teaching hospitals. Some employers in underserved rural areas may support a National Interest Waiver or HPSA-related immigration pathways, though those are more complex and employer-specific.
Which cities in North Dakota have the most physician assistant sponsorship jobs?
Fargo has the highest concentration of physician assistant jobs in North Dakota, driven by Sanford Health's large regional presence and the proximity to North Dakota State University. Bismarck and Grand Forks are the next most active markets, with Minot also seeing steady PA demand through Trinity Health. Smaller cities near federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas can also offer sponsorship opportunities through rural health programs.
How to find physician assistant visa sponsorship jobs in North Dakota?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international job seekers looking for visa sponsorship roles in the U.S. You can filter by state and job title to find physician assistant positions in North Dakota where employers are open to sponsorship. This saves significant time compared to screening general job boards where sponsorship willingness is rarely stated upfront.
Are there state-specific considerations for physician assistants seeking visa sponsorship in North Dakota?
North Dakota's large rural footprint means many PA positions are in Health Professional Shortage Areas, which can support certain immigration pathways and may make employers more motivated to sponsor. PAs must hold a valid North Dakota state license issued by the ND Board of Medicine, and international applicants typically need NCCPA certification. The University of North Dakota's PA program also creates a local hiring pipeline that employers draw from alongside international candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physician assistant jobs in North Dakota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
