Summary
The Associate Director, Commercialization Data Business Product Owner, supports the management of customer (HCP and patient) preferences, consent, and third-party data usage across the organization's commercial ecosystem.
The role partners closely with Marketing, Brand, Sales, Market Access, Legal, Privacy, and Compliance stakeholders to translate business and engagement needs into data governance requirements, technical specifications, and operational workflows — with a particular focus on how privacy, consent, and contractual data obligations are captured, documented, and enforced across HCP, patient, digital, omnichannel, and third-party data activities.
Success in this role requires strong cross-functional collaboration skills and working knowledge of data privacy and consent principles as applied to commercial pharma data, and hands-on experience with data governance frameworks, metadata/cataloging practices, and data quality operations — ideally within a pharmaceutical or life sciences commercial environment.
Responsibilities:
Customer Data Preferences and Governance
- Partner with Marketing and other commercial functions to understand HCP and patient engagement initiatives and translate business needs into data governance and reporting requirements.
- Support commercial data mapping and inventory activities across customer, engagement, digital, patient support, and third-party data sources.
- Ensure commercial data classifications, consent indicators, approved uses, and restrictions are reflected in relevant data catalogs, documentation, and business processes, in collaboration with Privacy and Compliance to confirm alignment with applicable privacy and contractual requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage Brand, Sales, Medical, Market Access stakeholders to capture requirements and translate business workflows into user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications.
- Facilitate regular stakeholder touchpoints and collaborate with domain owners to validate data definitions, glossary terms, and domain boundaries.
Customer Data Preference & Consent Enablement
- Translate customer preference and contractual data requirements into workflows, controls, and operational processes for system implementation and commercial operations.
- Support the operational pull-through of applicable privacy and consent requirements across HCP, patient, digital, omnichannel, and third-party commercial data activities.
- Engage with Privacy and Compliance on new data use cases or initiatives, so consent and legal-basis considerations can help inform the approach.
Data Governance
- Support implementation and enforcement of data governance frameworks, ownership structures, and stewardship roles across commercial data domains.
- Track compliance metrics, identify gaps, and contribute to data quality rules, lineage documentation, and issue management workflows in alignment with BMS policies.
Data Quality & Operational Excellence
- Monitor data quality dashboards; escalate completeness, latency, and accuracy issues to appropriate teams.
- Track operational KPIs (e.g., refresh SLAs, uptime) and support incident triage, root-cause analysis, and resolution.
Adoption, Vendor & Budget Support
- Support commercial vendor and third-party data assessments related to customer preferences, data use, and contractual requirements.
- Coordinate with Legal, Procurement, IT/BI&T, and business owners to ensure vendor data practices align with BMS requirements.
- Help maintain visibility into third-party commercial data usage, restrictions, and obligations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data, Life Sciences, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in consent management, data products, data governance, analytics enablement, or commercial data within pharmaceutical or life sciences organizations.
- Familiarity with consent management platforms, customer data platforms, data catalogs, digital engagement platforms, or related commercial data systems.
- Experience with data governance principles, data catalog platforms, and metadata management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead delivery and execution through strong stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration (Commercial, Analytics, IT, Legal, Privacy, Compliance, vendors).
Key competencies desired
- Working knowledge of privacy, consent, and data protection requirements as they apply to commercial, marketing, digital, HCP, patient, and third-party data activities.
- Strong understanding of operational data governance, including ownership, definitions, classification, approved usage, and privacy/retention controls.
- Experience implementing and monitoring data quality controls and coordinating issue resolution across data pipelines and vendors.
- Familiarity with metadata and data cataloging to support discoverability, certification, and governed self-service access.
- Exposure to third-party commercial data and operationalization of licensing, redistribution, and retention constraints.

Which companies sponsor visas for product associates in New Jersey?
New Jersey's largest visa sponsors for product associate roles include Johnson & Johnson, Merck, Cognizant, Conduent, and Prudential Financial. These employers have established immigration programs and regularly file H-1B visa petitions for product and technology positions. Mid-size SaaS companies and fintech firms based in Jersey City and Princeton also sponsor, though their volume is smaller and less consistent year to year.
Which visa types are most common for product associate roles in New Jersey?
The H-1B is the most common visa for product associates in New Jersey, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates already on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT can work without employer sponsorship initially, giving both sides time to evaluate fit before committing to an H-1B petition.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most product associate sponsorship jobs?
Jersey City leads for product associate sponsorship opportunities, driven by its dense concentration of financial services and technology firms. Newark and Edison also see consistent hiring, particularly from large enterprises and consulting firms with New York-adjacent operations. Princeton is a notable hub for life sciences product roles, given the cluster of pharmaceutical and biotech companies headquartered in that corridor.
How to find product associate visa sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search product associate roles in New Jersey without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. The platform surfaces openings from employers actively filing petitions for this role type, which is particularly useful in New Jersey where sponsorship willingness varies significantly between the pharma, fintech, and consulting sectors.
Are there state-specific considerations for product associates seeking sponsorship in New Jersey?
New Jersey's high cost of living means the Department of Labor's prevailing wage determinations for product associate roles tend to be elevated compared to national averages, which can work in your favor since employers must pay at or above that threshold. The state's proximity to New York City also means many employers file LCAs covering both states, giving sponsored candidates flexibility in where they're ultimately placed.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product associate jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
