Which companies sponsor visas for restaurant roles in New Jersey?
Hotel-affiliated restaurants, large casino resort operators in Atlantic City, and multi-location hospitality groups tend to be the most active visa sponsors in New Jersey. Brands with corporate HR infrastructure, such as those connected to Hilton, Marriott, or Wyndham properties, are more likely to have established sponsorship processes than independent neighborhood restaurants, which rarely have the legal resources to sponsor.
Which visa types are most common for restaurant roles in New Jersey?
The H-1B is most relevant for specialty restaurant roles that require a bachelor's degree, such as executive chef positions or food and beverage management roles with clear degree requirements. The H-2B is more commonly used for seasonal front-of-house and support staff, particularly at shore-area restaurants during peak summer months. O-1 visas occasionally apply to exceptionally distinguished culinary professionals.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most restaurant visa sponsorship jobs?
Jersey City and Newark generate the most activity, driven by their density of hotel-connected dining operations and proximity to New York City's hospitality market. Atlantic City is a significant secondary hub given its casino resort restaurants, which regularly hire for skilled culinary and management positions. Hoboken and the Bergen County corridor also see periodic openings at upscale dining establishments.
How to find restaurant visa sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it possible to search restaurant roles in New Jersey without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. The platform covers culinary, management, and food service operations roles across the state. Focusing your search on hotel-affiliated and large hospitality group employers within Migrate Mate will surface the most sponsorship-active listings.
Are there any New Jersey-specific considerations for restaurant visa sponsorship?
New Jersey's prevailing wage requirements apply to H-1B sponsored roles, meaning employers must pay the wage level set by the Department of Labor for the specific occupation and location. The state's proximity to New York City also means some employers compare sponsorship costs against the broader metro hiring market. Seasonal restaurant demand along the Jersey Shore can influence H-2B petition timing, with employers typically filing well in advance of the summer season.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored restaurant jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
