Which companies sponsor visas for data architects in New York?
Financial institutions are among the most active sponsors for data architects in New York, including JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, and MetLife. Large tech employers like Google, Amazon, and IBM also sponsor regularly through their New York offices. Healthcare organizations such as Memorial Sloan Kettering and NYU Langone have hired sponsored data architects as their data infrastructure needs have grown.
Which visa types are most common for data architect roles in New York?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for data architect roles in New York, as the position typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Candidates with extraordinary ability may pursue the O-1A. Intracompany transferees from multinational firms may qualify for the L-1A or L-1B depending on their specific role and seniority.
Which cities in New York have the most data architect sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan accounts for the majority of data architect sponsorship activity in New York, concentrated in Midtown and the Financial District where major banks, consulting firms, and technology companies are headquartered. Brooklyn has grown as a secondary hub, particularly in the tech sector. Roles also appear in Buffalo and Albany, primarily within healthcare systems, state government contractors, and insurance companies operating upstate.
How to find data architect visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates searching for visa sponsorship roles, and you can filter directly by state and job title to surface data architect positions in New York. The platform focuses on employers with a documented history of sponsoring work visas, which saves time compared to filtering through general job listings. Setting up a profile helps match you to relevant New York openings as they are posted.
Are there any state-specific considerations for data architect sponsorship in New York?
New York's prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program are set at higher thresholds than most other states, reflecting the high cost of living in the New York City metro area. Employers must certify wages meet Department of Labor standards before filing. New York also has a strong pipeline of international talent from Columbia University, NYU, and Cornell Tech, meaning competition for sponsored roles at top firms can be significant.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data architect jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
