Which companies sponsor visas for human resources associates in New York?
Large financial institutions such as JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Citigroup, alongside consulting firms like Deloitte, PwC, and McKinsey, have established track records of sponsoring H-1B visas for HR associate roles in New York. Major tech employers including Google, Amazon, and IBM with New York offices also appear consistently in Department of Labor LCA filings for HR positions. Smaller firms sponsor less frequently.
Which visa types are most common for human resources associate roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa for human resources associates in New York, as HR roles at the associate level typically require a bachelor's degree in human resources, organizational psychology, or a related field, which satisfies the specialty occupation standard. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT work authorization often use that period to secure employer H-1B sponsorship. The TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying HR classifications.
Which cities in New York have the most human resources associate sponsorship jobs?
New York City, particularly Midtown Manhattan, accounts for the overwhelming majority of HR associate sponsorship opportunities in the state, driven by the concentration of financial services, consulting, media, and tech headquarters. White Plains and Melville on Long Island have some activity from corporate regional offices. Albany and Buffalo occasionally post HR roles at large healthcare systems and public universities, though sponsorship rates are lower outside New York City.

Are there state-specific considerations for HR associates seeking sponsorship in New York?
New York's Department of Labor publishes prevailing wage data that directly affects the wage level an employer must certify on your Labor Condition Application, and New York City wages are among the highest prevailing wage benchmarks in the country for HR roles. Candidates connected to the city's university pipeline, including Columbia, NYU, and Fordham, often have stronger access to large employers who recruit locally and have active immigration sponsorship programs for recent graduates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored human resources associate jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
