Which companies sponsor visas for strategy consultants in New York?
The largest sponsors for strategy consultant roles in New York include McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company, Deloitte Consulting, and Accenture. Major financial institutions like JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs also sponsor strategy roles through internal consulting groups. These firms have well-established immigration support infrastructure and regularly file H-1B petitions for qualified international candidates.
Which visa types are most common for strategy consultant roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa for strategy consultants in New York, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in business, economics, or a related field. Candidates with an MBA from a U.S. university may already hold OPT or STEM OPT work authorization. TN visa status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying management consulting roles.
Which cities in New York have the most strategy consultant sponsorship jobs?
New York City, specifically Midtown Manhattan, accounts for the overwhelming majority of strategy consultant sponsorship opportunities in the state. The concentration of consulting firm offices, investment banks, and corporate headquarters in areas like Hudson Yards and the Financial District makes it the primary hiring market. Albany sees limited demand, mostly from government-adjacent consulting engagements.
How to find strategy consultant visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, with filters for role type and state. For strategy consultant roles in New York, you can use Migrate Mate to browse verified sponsoring employers and see which firms have active openings. Targeting firms with a documented H-1B filing history in New York narrows your search to employers already familiar with the sponsorship process.
Are there state-specific considerations for strategy consultants seeking sponsorship in New York?
New York's high cost of living means prevailing wage requirements for H-1B strategy consultant roles tend to be among the highest in the country, which can affect which employers are willing to sponsor. The state also has a strong MBA pipeline through Columbia Business School and NYU Stern, meaning sponsored international candidates often compete with OPT-eligible graduates who require less employer paperwork initially.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored strategy consultant jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
