Which companies sponsor visas for strategy consultants in Illinois?
The most active sponsors for strategy consultant roles in Illinois are large management consulting firms and professional services companies. McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group, Bain, Deloitte, Accenture, and PwC all maintain significant Chicago offices and have filed H-1B Labor Condition Applications for consulting titles. Large corporations headquartered in Illinois, including those in manufacturing, healthcare, and financial services, also sponsor strategy roles internally.
Which visa types are most common for strategy consultant roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for strategy consultants in Illinois, as the role typically requires at least a bachelor's degree in business, economics, or a related field and qualifies as a specialty occupation. Candidates with advanced degrees may pursue H-1B cap exemptions through university-affiliated employers. The O-1A is an option for consultants with documented exceptional achievements, though it requires substantial evidence.
Which cities in Illinois have the most strategy consultant sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the overwhelming majority of strategy consultant sponsorship opportunities in Illinois. The Loop and River North neighborhoods host the main offices of the largest consulting firms, while the broader metro area includes suburban hubs like Downers Grove and Rosemont where corporations maintain headquarters. Outside of Chicago, strategy consultant roles with sponsorship are uncommon, as the consulting industry in Illinois is heavily concentrated in the city.
How to find strategy consultant visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse strategy consultant roles in Illinois without sifting through positions that do not sponsor. You can search by role type and state to surface relevant openings at consulting firms and corporate strategy teams in the Chicago area. Migrate Mate also provides context on which employers have a history of sponsoring visas for consulting titles.
Are there state-specific considerations for strategy consultants seeking sponsorship in Illinois?
Illinois does not impose additional state-level visa requirements beyond federal standards, but a few practical factors matter. The Department of Labor's prevailing wage determinations for strategy consultant roles in the Chicago metropolitan area reflect the city's higher cost of living, so sponsored positions must meet those benchmarks. Chicago's strong MBA pipeline from the University of Chicago Booth School and Northwestern Kellogg also means competition for sponsored consulting roles is particularly high.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored strategy consultant jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
