Which companies sponsor visas for care assistants in North Carolina?
Large health systems are the most active sponsors in North Carolina. Duke Health, UNC Health, Novant Health, Atrium Health, and WakeMed have histories of sponsoring internationally trained care staff. Long-term care operators and home health agencies also sponsor, though less consistently. Sponsorship availability varies by facility, staffing needs at a given time, and the applicant's specific visa eligibility.
Which visa types are most common for care assistant roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B is rarely used for care assistant roles because the position typically does not meet the specialty occupation requirement of a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Most internationally hired care assistants in North Carolina enter through EB-3 employment-based green card sponsorship, which covers skilled and unskilled workers, or through the H-2B temporary worker visa for non-agricultural roles where seasonal or temporary need can be demonstrated.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most care assistant sponsorship jobs?
The Raleigh-Durham area leads due to the concentration of major hospital systems and the Research Triangle's healthcare sector. Charlotte is a close second, anchored by Atrium Health and Novant Health facilities. Greensboro and Winston-Salem also see consistent demand, supported by Cone Health and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. Rural counties across eastern and western North Carolina have growing needs but fewer employer-sponsored openings.
How to find care assistant visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find care assistant roles in North Carolina where employers are open to visa sponsorship. You can filter specifically by state and role to see verified sponsorship-willing positions rather than sifting through general listings. Focus on larger health systems in the Raleigh-Durham and Charlotte metro areas, as they have dedicated HR and legal teams experienced in processing international hires.
Are there any North Carolina-specific considerations for care assistant sponsorship?
North Carolina participates in the Nurse Aide I and II registry system, meaning care assistants must meet state certification requirements regardless of immigration status. Employers sponsoring international hires must ensure the applicant can meet North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation training and competency standards. Facilities in the Research Triangle and Charlotte metro tend to have more experience navigating both state licensing and federal immigration processes simultaneously.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored care assistant jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
