Which companies sponsor visas for IT administrators in North Carolina?
Employers with established visa sponsorship programs for IT administrators in North Carolina include Lenovo (Research Triangle Park headquarters), Cisco, Bank of America, Duke University Health System, and IBM. State government contractors and managed service providers operating out of Raleigh and Charlotte also sponsor IT administrator roles, particularly where candidates hold specialized certifications in network infrastructure, cloud systems, or cybersecurity.
Which visa types are most common for IT administrator roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa for IT administrators in North Carolina, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as computer science or information systems. The L-1B is an option for intracompany transfers with specialized knowledge. Candidates from Australia may qualify for the E-3, and Canadian or Mexican nationals may explore the TN visa under the Systems Analyst category.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most IT administrator sponsorship jobs?
Raleigh and the broader Research Triangle Park corridor generate the highest concentration of IT administrator sponsorship opportunities in North Carolina, driven by technology firms, research universities, and state government agencies. Charlotte is the second major hub, with demand coming primarily from financial services and healthcare employers. Durham and Chapel Hill also contribute through university systems and affiliated medical institutions that regularly hire international IT staff.
How to find it administrator visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?

This is particularly useful in North Carolina, where sponsoring employers are concentrated in the Research Triangle Park and Charlotte metro areas.
Are there state-specific factors IT administrators should know about when seeking sponsorship in North Carolina?
North Carolina employers filing H-1B petitions for IT administrators must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements specific to the relevant metropolitan statistical area, so wages differ between Raleigh, Charlotte, and smaller markets. Research Triangle Park's high density of technology employers means the local labor market is competitive, and USCIS scrutiny of specialty occupation status for IT administrator titles has increased in recent years. Candidates with documented systems administration credentials and degree alignment are better positioned for petition approval.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored it administrator jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
