At Confluence, we’ve always been driven by a commitment to innovation, precision, and partnership in the investment data space. More about the role & team
This role focuses on strengthening infrastructure security by directly implementing and remediating security controls across enterprise systems. It sits within the IT Infrastructure team and works closely with Cybersecurity, with a clear emphasis on execution—addressing vulnerabilities, improving patching cycles, and ensuring systems are securely configured across Windows and Linux environments.
A key priority for this role is reducing a significant backlog of vulnerabilities and improving how remediation is delivered at scale. The role also takes ownership of initiatives such as certificate lifecycle management and the effective use of security platforms including Privileged Access Management and Cloudflare. This is a hands-on position where success is measured by tangible improvements in security posture and operational resilience.
This role suits a senior infrastructure professional who enjoys working across multiple systems, solving practical security challenges, and taking ownership of outcomes. It offers the opportunity to work on high-impact issues with visibility across teams, making it well-suited to candidates looking to broaden their security exposure while remaining close to infrastructure.
Why should you apply?
- Direct ownership of vulnerability remediation, with clear impact on reducing backlog and improving security outcomes
- Opportunity to work on certificate lifecycle management, a high-demand and often underrepresented skillset
- Hands-on role combining infrastructure and security, rather than a purely advisory or monitoring position
- Broad exposure across enterprise systems, security tools, and cross-functional teams
- Ability to influence how security is implemented and improved at scale, not just maintain existing processes
What skills and experience do I need to succeed?
- 8+ years of experience in enterprise systems administration or IT infrastructure
- Strong generalist infrastructure background with the ability to work across multiple systems and environments
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server (Active Directory, DNS, authentication, certificates) and working knowledge of Linux administration
- Experience managing certificate lifecycle (TLS/PKI), including renewal and ongoing management (key priority)
- Exposure to security tools such as Privileged Access Management (PAM) and Cloudflare (WAF/edge security)
- Experience with logging/monitoring platforms (e.g., Splunk, Sumo Logic or similar)
- Proven ability to remediate vulnerabilities hands-on, including patching and reducing backlog across systems
- Strong scripting/automation skills (PowerShell required)
- Ability to apply security controls across infrastructure and prevent misconfigurations
- Experience automating certificate lifecycle processes across environments
- Exposure to SIEM or centralized logging beyond administration, including tuning, alerting, or optimization
- Experience delivering infrastructure or security projects end-to-end
- Experience working in SaaS or cloud-centric environments
- Ability to produce technical documentation, runbooks, and support knowledge transfer

Are there any Pennsylvania-specific considerations for IT administrators seeking visa sponsorship?
Pennsylvania's prevailing wage requirements under H-1B rules mean employers must pay IT administrators at least the DOL-determined wage for the specific location, which differs between Philadelphia and smaller markets like Allentown or Erie. The state's strong university pipeline, including Penn State, Drexel, and Carnegie Mellon, means competition for sponsored roles can be significant. Employers in regulated industries like healthcare and financial services often have longer internal approval processes before extending sponsorship offers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored it administrator jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
