Which companies sponsor visas for IT administrators in Tennessee?
Healthcare organizations and technology companies account for a significant share of IT administrator sponsorships in Tennessee. HCA Healthcare, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, FedEx, and Bridgestone Americas have all appeared in Department of Labor LCA filings for IT infrastructure and systems roles. State government contractors and managed service providers operating in Nashville and Knoxville also sponsor periodically, though sponsorship frequency varies by employer and hiring cycle.
Which visa types are most common for IT administrator roles in Tennessee?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for IT administrators in Tennessee, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Some candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship use TN visas under the Systems Analyst category, which can cover certain IT administrator responsibilities depending on job duties. Employers requiring specialized experience may also pursue O-1 or L-1 visas in applicable cases.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most IT administrator sponsorship jobs?
Nashville leads Tennessee for IT administrator sponsorship activity, driven by its large healthcare sector, corporate headquarters, and growing technology presence. Memphis is a secondary hub, particularly for logistics and supply chain IT roles tied to companies like FedEx and International Paper. Knoxville sees demand from the University of Tennessee, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and regional technology firms. Chattanooga has a smaller but emerging tech presence following infrastructure investment in the city's broadband network.
How to find it administrator visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate aggregates IT administrator roles in Tennessee where employers have a demonstrated history of visa sponsorship, making it easier to filter out positions unlikely to support work authorization. When browsing on Migrate Mate, searching specifically for IT administrator or systems administrator roles filtered to Tennessee cities like Nashville, Memphis, and Knoxville will surface the most relevant sponsored opportunities. Reviewing each employer's LCA filing history can also help prioritize outreach.
Are there any state-specific considerations for IT administrators seeking visa sponsorship in Tennessee?
Tennessee's Department of Labor publishes prevailing wage data that aligns with federal DOL Occupational Employment Statistics, so sponsored IT administrator roles must meet the applicable wage level for the specific metro area. Nashville's prevailing wages are higher than those in smaller Tennessee markets, which affects the LCA filing. Tennessee has no state income tax on earned wages, which is a relevant factor when evaluating compensation. Employers tied to Oak Ridge National Laboratory may have additional security clearance requirements that can affect eligibility for foreign nationals.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored it administrator jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
