Overview
What You Will Do
Supports the IT Service department’s customer-facing server infrastructure design, procurement, deployment, and support. Takes day-to-day direction from the IT Service Supervisor supporting customer project activities.
A Typical Day at Prime Controls
- Support server, virtualization, and storage design, procurement, and provisioning across a variety of manufacturers (primarily Dell servers, Windows Server OS, and VMware ESXi/vSphere).
- Work efficiently as part of a multidisciplinary IT services team.
- Effectively and professionally communicate with colleagues and customers at varying levels of technical detail and complexity regarding direct areas of responsibility in both pre-deployment/design/planning and support capacities.
- Assures that all system changes are properly tested and documented with both Visio diagrams and supporting written documentation prior to implementation.
- Possess a basic working knowledge of layer 2 and layer 3 networking fundamentals to assist in infrastructure and solution design, troubleshooting, and planning.
- Communicates effectively to provide optimal support and to promote a professional climate throughout the organization.
- Responds to (and resolves, where applicable) tickets assigned through customer support ticketing systems.
- Assists in product evaluations as directed by the IT Manager.
- Mentors team members who show interest in these areas of responsibility.
- Travel should not exceed 15%.
What You Will Bring
The Basic
- 3+ years of experience in systems administration or IT support, ideally in an industrial or project-based environment.
- Proficiency with Windows Server and client OS platforms.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.).
- Familiarity with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and an ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
- Excellent organizational and documentation habits.

- Experience with building and quoting server, endpoint, and storage configurations (Dell Configurator, SuperMicro Configurator, CDW, etc.).
- Familiarity with container technologies (Dockers, Kubernetes, etc.).
- Experience working with OT or control system infrastructure and SCADA applications.
- Familiarity with industrial cybersecurity frameworks and secure configuration practices.
- Familiarity with enterprise storage (Dell PowerVault/Store, HPE Nimble, Pure, QNAP, vSAN, Nutanix, etc.).
