A growing precision manufacturing company is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Quality Manager to lead quality control and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations. This is a floor-focused leadership role working closely with machining, production, inspection, engineering, finishing, and purchasing teams. The ideal candidate will understand precision parts, engineering drawings, tolerances, inspection methods, and manufacturing processes, and will be able to identify root causes and improve quality without unnecessarily impacting production.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead quality control and improvement across manufacturing departments.
- Improve first-pass yield and reduce scrap, rework, and recurring defects.
- Manage in-process, final, and incoming inspections.
- Work with production teams to quickly identify and resolve quality issues.
- Analyze inspection data and quality trends to identify process weaknesses.
- Develop and maintain quality standards, inspection procedures, and work instructions.
- Ensure parts meet print, tolerance, fit, finish, and functional requirements.
- Lead/support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Train and coach inspectors, leads, and production employees.
- Partner with engineering on drawings, tolerances, manufacturability, and quality issues.
- Improve supplier quality for outside processes and purchased components.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout manufacturing.
Required / Preferred Qualifications
- Quality management experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining, precision parts, tolerances, and inspection methods.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Hands-on experience with callipers, micrometers, gauges, optical comparators, CMMs, and other inspection equipment.
- Experience with root cause analysis, corrective action, and process improvement.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, coach, and hold teams accountable.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Required industry experience: Firearms, aerospace, automotive, defence, or other precision manufacturing.
- Comfortable working directly on the manufacturing floor.
