Which companies sponsor visas for personal assistants in North Carolina?
Financial institutions headquartered in Charlotte, including Bank of America and Wells Fargo's regional operations, have sponsored work visas for executive and personal assistant roles. Research Triangle Park employers in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and technology, such as IBM and various life sciences firms, have also filed sponsorships for administrative and executive support positions. Private household employers and staffing agencies serving high-net-worth clients in the Charlotte and Raleigh metro areas are additional sources of sponsorship.
Which visa types are most common for personal assistant roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B visa is the most commonly pursued category, but it requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, typically demanding a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Standard personal assistant roles often struggle to meet this threshold unless the position involves specialized skills such as legal coordination, financial management, or language interpretation. The O-1 visa is an option for individuals with extraordinary ability in a relevant field. Some roles may qualify under TN visa status for Canadian and Mexican nationals if the duties align with eligible professional categories.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most personal assistant sponsorship jobs?
Charlotte generates the highest volume of personal assistant sponsorship opportunities, driven by its concentration of financial services firms, corporate headquarters, and high-net-worth households. Raleigh and Durham follow closely, with demand tied to Research Triangle Park's technology and life sciences sector and the administrative needs of major universities including Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill, and NC State. Greensboro and Asheville have smaller but active markets, particularly for private household and hospitality-adjacent personal assistant roles.
How to find personal assistant visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate is a dedicated platform for international job seekers looking for visa-sponsored positions, including personal assistant roles in North Carolina. You can filter specifically by role type and state to surface employers who have an established sponsorship track record. Given that personal assistant visa sponsorship is less common than in higher-credentialed fields, focusing your search on corporate executive support roles in Charlotte's financial sector or Research Triangle Park's technology companies will yield the strongest results on Migrate Mate.
What should international candidates know about personal assistant visa sponsorship in North Carolina?
North Carolina employers sponsoring personal assistants will typically need to demonstrate the role qualifies as a specialty occupation, which requires a direct connection between the job duties and a specific degree field. Prevailing wage requirements apply, meaning the employer must pay at or above the Department of Labor's determined wage for the occupation and location. University and corporate environments in the Research Triangle tend to have more established immigration compliance infrastructure than private household employers, making them more predictable sponsorship partners.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored personal assistant jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
