Which companies sponsor visas for QA engineers in North Carolina?
Companies with established visa sponsorship track records for QA engineers in North Carolina include Cisco, Red Hat, Fidelity Investments, Lenovo, and SAS Institute. Research Triangle Park hosts a dense cluster of technology employers that regularly file H-1B visa petitions for quality assurance roles. Charlotte-based fintech and banking firms also sponsor QA talent, particularly for roles involving automated testing and software validation.
Which visa types are most common for QA engineer roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa for QA engineers in North Carolina, classified as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Some employers also sponsor L-1B visas for intracompany transferees with specialized testing knowledge. Candidates with relevant degrees may also explore OPT or STEM OPT extensions as an initial path before employer-sponsored petitions.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most QA engineer sponsorship jobs?
Raleigh and Durham account for the largest share of QA engineer sponsorship jobs in North Carolina, driven by the Research Triangle Park ecosystem and its concentration of enterprise software, cloud, and open-source companies. Charlotte is the second major hub, particularly for QA roles in banking and financial services technology. Smaller clusters exist in Cary and Morrisville, where mid-size technology firms are headquartered.
How to find qa engineer visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?

You can filter by state and role to surface employers actively hiring for software quality positions in the Research Triangle and Charlotte. Are there state-specific factors that affect QA engineer visa sponsorship in North Carolina?
North Carolina's Research Triangle Park pipeline from NC State, Duke, and UNC-Chapel Hill produces strong local graduate talent, meaning sponsored candidates typically need specialized skills in test automation frameworks, performance engineering, or domain-specific QA such as healthcare IT or financial systems to stand out. The state's low cost of living relative to coastal tech hubs means prevailing wage requirements are generally lower, which can make sponsorship more accessible for qualifying employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored qa engineer jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
