Which companies sponsor visas for QA engineers in California?
Large technology employers with established immigration programs are the most consistent sponsors. Companies like Apple, Google, Meta, Salesforce, Intuit, and Broadcom regularly file H-1B visa petitions for QA engineers in California. Mid-size software and fintech firms also sponsor, though less frequently. Employers with dedicated HR and legal teams are generally better positioned to manage sponsorship paperwork for quality assurance roles.
Which visa types are most common for QA engineer roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for QA engineers in California, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, qualifying it as a specialty occupation. Candidates already on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT can work while pursuing sponsorship. Those with extraordinary ability in software quality may also explore the O-1A, though it requires substantial documented achievements.
Which cities in California have the most QA engineer sponsorship jobs?
San Jose, San Francisco, and the broader Bay Area account for the largest share of QA engineer sponsorship activity in California, driven by the concentration of major tech employers and startups. Los Angeles has a growing presence, particularly in gaming, entertainment technology, and e-commerce. San Diego sees demand from biotech and defense tech companies that employ QA engineers for software and hardware validation work.
How to find qa engineer visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to browse QA engineer openings in California without sorting through roles that don't support international candidates. You can search by location and role to surface employers actively hiring sponsored QA engineers in cities like San Jose, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, saving time compared to manually researching each company's immigration history.
Are there any California-specific considerations for QA engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
California's prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program apply to the specific metropolitan area where the work is performed. Bay Area prevailing wages for QA engineers are among the highest in the country, which can affect employer willingness to sponsor. California also has a strong pipeline of international QA talent through universities like UC Berkeley, UCLA, and UCSD, meaning competition for sponsored roles at top employers is high.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored qa engineer jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
