Which companies sponsor visas for QA engineers in South Carolina?
Employers with documented H-1B sponsorship history for QA and software testing roles in South Carolina include Blackbaud, SCANA (now Dominion Energy South Carolina), Michelin North America, and BMW Manufacturing. Larger technology services firms operating near Greenville, Columbia, and Charleston also file LCAs for QA engineers regularly. Sponsorship activity tends to cluster around companies with established software development or advanced manufacturing operations.
Which visa types are most common for QA engineer roles in South Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for QA engineers in South Carolina, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Candidates from Australia may use the E-3, and Canadian and Mexican nationals can explore TN status under the USMCA. Those with extraordinary ability may qualify for the O-1.
Which cities in South Carolina have the most QA engineer sponsorship jobs?
Greenville and Spartanburg see the highest concentration of QA engineering opportunities, driven by the automotive and advanced manufacturing sectors anchored by BMW and Michelin. Charleston has a growing tech presence with companies like Blackbaud headquartered there. Columbia, as the state capital, hosts government contractors and healthcare IT employers that occasionally sponsor QA talent. These four cities account for the large majority of sponsorship activity in the state.
How to find qa engineer visa sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, and filters QA engineer roles by state so you can focus on South Carolina employers who have an active sponsorship history. Rather than sorting through generic job boards, Migrate Mate surfaces roles where sponsorship is a realistic possibility, saving significant time for candidates on tight visa timelines like OPT or the H-1B cap season.
Are there state-specific considerations for QA engineers seeking sponsorship in South Carolina?
South Carolina's QA engineering market is shaped heavily by its automotive and manufacturing base, meaning many roles emphasize hardware quality assurance and embedded systems testing alongside traditional software QA. Employers filing H-1B Labor Condition Applications must pay the prevailing wage for the specific metro area, so compensation benchmarks differ between Greenville, Charleston, and Columbia. Clemson University and the University of South Carolina also produce a pipeline of engineering graduates that influences local hiring competition.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored qa engineer jobs in South Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
