Which companies sponsor visas for QA engineers in Ohio?
Ohio employers with documented H-1B sponsorship histories for QA engineering roles include JPMorgan Chase and Huntington National Bank in Columbus, Progressive Insurance and KeyBank in Cleveland, and Fidelity National Information Services in Cincinnati. Large healthcare IT firms such as Nationwide Children's Hospital and OhioHealth also regularly sponsor technical quality assurance positions. Consulting firms and staffing vendors operating across Ohio account for a significant share of QA-related H-1B filings as well.
Which visa types are most common for QA engineer roles in Ohio?
The H-1B is the most common visa for QA engineers in Ohio, provided the role requires a relevant bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. The L-1B applies for intracompany transfers where specialized knowledge of proprietary testing systems is involved. Canadian and Mexican nationals in QA roles may qualify for TN visa status under the engineer or computer systems analyst categories, depending on how the role is defined.
Which cities in Ohio have the most QA engineer sponsorship jobs?
Columbus generates the highest volume of QA engineer sponsorship activity in Ohio, driven by its concentration of insurance companies, financial services firms, and a growing technology sector. Cleveland follows, with demand from healthcare systems, manufacturing technology companies, and financial institutions headquartered there. Cincinnati is a strong third, supported by fintech, consumer goods technology, and logistics firms. Dayton sees more specialized QA demand tied to defense contractors and aerospace suppliers.
How to find qa engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate filters QA engineer jobs in Ohio specifically to roles where employers have a sponsorship history, saving you from applying to positions that won't move forward for visa holders. Search the Migrate Mate board filtered to Ohio and QA engineering to see active listings from companies that have filed H-1B petitions for similar roles. This is more targeted than broad job searches because sponsorship willingness is built into the filtering criteria.
Are there state-specific considerations for QA engineers pursuing visa sponsorship in Ohio?
Ohio's Department of Job and Family Services participates in the federal prevailing wage system, meaning H-1B employers must pay QA engineers at least the DOL-determined wage for the specific metro area, whether Columbus, Cleveland, or Cincinnati. Ohio State University, Case Western Reserve, and the University of Cincinnati produce a steady pipeline of international students on OPT who pursue QA roles locally, making Ohio employers relatively familiar with sponsorship processes for this job category.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored qa engineer jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
