Which companies sponsor visas for QA engineers in Washington?
Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing, Expedia, and Salesforce are among the Washington employers with consistent H-1B visa sponsorship histories for QA and software quality roles. Mid-size technology companies in the Seattle metro, including firms focused on cloud platforms and enterprise SaaS, also file regularly. Sponsorship activity is concentrated in King County, with additional filings from companies based in Bellevue and Redmond.
Which visa types are most common for QA engineer roles in Washington?
The H-1B is the most common visa for QA engineers in Washington, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field. L-1B transfers apply for engineers moving within a multinational company. O-1 visa petitions are less common but available for candidates with documented exceptional achievement in software quality or test engineering.
Which cities in Washington have the most QA engineer sponsorship jobs?
Seattle generates the highest volume of QA engineer sponsorship activity in Washington, followed closely by Redmond, Bellevue, and Kirkland. This corridor forms the core of Washington's technology employment base. Tacoma and Spokane have smaller but growing engineering hiring pipelines, particularly in defense, healthcare technology, and public-sector software projects that occasionally include visa sponsorship.
How to find qa engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility, making it easier to identify Washington employers actively willing to sponsor QA engineers rather than sorting through postings that do not address sponsorship. You can search by role and state to surface relevant openings at technology companies, aerospace firms, and enterprise software employers across the Seattle metro and broader Washington market.
Are there state-specific factors QA engineers should know when pursuing sponsorship in Washington?
Washington has no state income tax, which affects how prevailing wage calculations compare to take-home pay relative to other tech hubs. The University of Washington and Washington State University supply a steady stream of software and computer science graduates, creating competitive hiring pipelines that some employers use alongside sponsorship. QA roles tied to government contracts, particularly in aerospace and defense near Seattle and Tacoma, may carry additional background screening requirements that can affect sponsorship timelines.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored qa engineer jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
