Which companies sponsor visas for security engineers in North Carolina?
Companies with established visa sponsorship track records for security engineers in North Carolina include Cisco Systems and Lenovo in Research Triangle Park, Bank of America and Wells Fargo in Charlotte, and Red Hat in Raleigh. Defense contractors such as Leidos and SAIC also hire security engineers near the Fort Liberty corridor and sponsor H-1B visa and other work visas for qualified candidates.
Which visa types are most common for security engineer roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa for security engineers in North Carolina, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, or a related field. L-1B visas apply when candidates transfer within a multinational company. Candidates from Australia may qualify for the E-3 visa, and Canadian or Mexican nationals may be eligible for TN visa status under the USMCA.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most security engineer sponsorship jobs?
Raleigh and Durham, anchored by Research Triangle Park, have the highest concentration of security engineer sponsorship jobs in North Carolina. Charlotte is the second major hub, driven by its large financial services and fintech sector. Smaller but active markets include Cary, where several technology companies have offices, and Fayetteville, which has demand tied to defense and government contracting activity near Fort Liberty.
How to find security engineer visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify North Carolina employers actively hiring security engineers who need work authorization. Rather than sorting through general job postings, you can focus on roles where sponsorship is confirmed. Searching by location within Migrate Mate lets you narrow results to Raleigh, Charlotte, Durham, or other North Carolina cities where security engineering demand is strongest.
Are there state-specific considerations for security engineer visa sponsorship in North Carolina?
Security engineers in North Carolina working on government or defense contracts may encounter clearance requirements that can complicate or limit sponsorship, since active security clearances are generally not available to non-U.S. citizens. Research Triangle Park's university pipeline from NC State, UNC Chapel Hill, and Duke feeds strong local talent competition. Employers sponsoring H-1B petitions must pay the prevailing wage for the relevant job category and geographic region as certified by the Department of Labor.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored security engineer jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
