Which companies in Ohio sponsor visas for AI engineers?
Several large Ohio employers have documented H-1B sponsorship histories for AI and machine learning roles. JPMorgan Chase and Nationwide in Columbus, Procter and Gamble and Kroger in Cincinnati, and Progressive Insurance near Cleveland have all filed LCAs for AI-related positions. Technology consulting firms and cloud services companies with Ohio offices also sponsor AI engineers regularly.
Which visa types are most common for AI engineer roles in Ohio?
The H-1B is the most common visa for AI engineers in Ohio, given that the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or a related field. Candidates with extraordinary ability or recognition in the AI field may also qualify for the O-1A. Australians specifically may pursue the E-3 visa, which has no lottery.
Which cities in Ohio have the most AI engineer visa sponsorship jobs?
Columbus is the most active market for AI engineer sponsorship in Ohio, driven by its financial services, insurance, and retail technology sectors. Cincinnati is a strong secondary market with corporate headquarters in consumer goods and financial services. Cleveland has a smaller but growing presence, particularly in healthcare AI and manufacturing automation tied to industrial employers in the region.
How to find ai engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates searching for visa-sponsoring employers. You can filter by role and state to surface AI engineer positions in Ohio where employers have active sponsorship histories. This is more efficient than broad job searches because the platform is designed around sponsorship eligibility, saving time that would otherwise go toward screening out non-sponsoring postings.
Are there any Ohio-specific considerations for AI engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Ohio State University, Case Western Reserve, and the University of Cincinnati produce substantial AI and machine learning talent, meaning employers in the state are experienced with OPT and H-1B transitions for international graduates. Ohio's cost of living relative to coastal tech hubs also affects prevailing wage calculations under the LCA, which can influence where employers choose to hire and sponsor sponsored roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ai engineer jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
