Which companies sponsor visas for construction managers in Ohio?
Turner Construction, Messer Construction, DPR Construction, and Gilbane Building Company have sponsored construction manager roles in Ohio through H-1B and other work visa categories, based on Department of Labor disclosure data. Large general contractors and construction management firms working on major public infrastructure, healthcare, and commercial developments tend to have more established HR processes for sponsorship.
Which cities in Ohio have the most construction manager sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads Ohio for construction manager hiring given its sustained commercial real estate growth, Intel semiconductor campus development in Licking County, and ongoing downtown infrastructure projects. Cleveland and Cincinnati also generate consistent demand, particularly for construction managers with healthcare facility and industrial project experience. Dayton and Toledo see activity tied to manufacturing plant expansions and regional infrastructure work.
Which visa types are most common for construction manager roles in Ohio?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for construction managers in Ohio, provided the role meets USCIS specialty occupation requirements, which typically means the position requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a closely related field. Some candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the USMCA professional categories. The EB-3 employment-based green card is a longer-term pathway some employers pursue.
How to find construction manager visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters construction manager roles in Ohio by visa sponsorship willingness, saving you the time of manually screening job postings. Beyond searching Migrate Mate, targeting large general contractors and construction management firms directly is worthwhile, as they handle multi-year projects that justify sponsorship costs. Focusing your applications on Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati will cover the highest concentration of active employers.
Are there any Ohio-specific considerations for construction manager visa sponsorship?
Ohio construction managers sponsored on H-1B visas must be paid at least the prevailing wage for their occupation and location, as certified on the Labor Condition Application filed with the Department of Labor. Ohio's active infrastructure pipeline, including projects tied to the CHIPS Act semiconductor investments in central Ohio, is generating demand for senior construction management talent that some employers find difficult to fill domestically, which can support sponsorship decisions for well-qualified international candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored construction manager jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
