Which companies sponsor visas for customer engineers in Ohio?
Oracle's large Columbus presence, IBM's operations across Ohio, and NCR Atleos (headquartered in the state) are among the employers with documented H-1B sponsorship histories for technical customer-facing roles. Nationwide Insurance and JPMorgan Chase also operate significant Ohio technology centers where customer engineer positions appear. Checking USCIS LCA disclosure data confirms which specific employers have filed recently for these roles.
Which visa types are most common for customer engineer roles in Ohio?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for customer engineers in Ohio, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a closely related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for TN visa status under the engineer category. Australian citizens can explore the E-3 visa, which follows a similar specialty occupation framework but operates outside the H-1B lottery.
Which cities in Ohio have the most customer engineer sponsorship jobs?
Columbus generates the highest volume of customer engineer openings in Ohio, driven by its concentration of enterprise software, financial services, and insurance technology employers. Cleveland follows, with a strong industrial technology and healthcare IT sector that regularly hires customer engineers. Cincinnati's corridor of consumer goods and logistics companies, including Procter and Gamble and Kroger's technology divisions, also produces sponsorship-eligible openings for this role.
How to find customer engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically to visa-sponsorship-eligible roles, so you can browse customer engineer openings in Ohio without sorting through positions that exclude international candidates. The platform focuses on employers with active or recent sponsorship histories, which is particularly useful in Ohio's fragmented market where sponsorship willingness varies significantly across Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati employers.
Are there any Ohio-specific considerations for customer engineers pursuing visa sponsorship?
Ohio's prevailing wage determinations for customer engineer roles are set at the county level by the Department of Labor, so wages in Columbus's Franklin County differ from those in Cuyahoga County (Cleveland). Ohio State University and Case Western Reserve produce a steady pipeline of engineering graduates, meaning employers in the state are generally familiar with OPT and STEM OPT work authorization timelines, which can ease initial conversations about sponsorship pathways.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored customer engineer jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
