Which companies sponsor visas for engineering technicians in Ohio?
Ohio's manufacturing and aerospace sectors produce consistent sponsorship activity for engineering technicians. Honda of America in Marysville, General Electric Aviation in Cincinnati, Lockheed Martin in Akron, and Parker Hannifin in Cleveland have all filed for engineering technician roles through DOL labor condition applications. Defense contractors and automotive suppliers across the state represent the most active sponsoring employers in this category.
Which visa types are most common for engineering technician roles in Ohio?
H-1B visa is the most common visa for engineering technicians in Ohio when the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field. Some technician positions may qualify under TN visa status for Canadian and Mexican nationals if the role maps to an eligible TN occupation. Employers determine visa category based on the specific duties and educational requirements of the position.
Which cities in Ohio have the most engineering technician sponsorship jobs?
Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati account for the largest share of engineering technician sponsorship activity in Ohio. Columbus benefits from proximity to Honda's manufacturing operations and a growing tech presence. Cleveland's industrial corridor supports demand in manufacturing and materials testing. The Dayton area, with Wright-Patterson Air Force Base nearby, drives aerospace and defense technician hiring with associated sponsorship filings.
How to find engineering technician visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters engineering technician roles in Ohio by visa sponsorship history, so you're not sifting through postings from employers who don't sponsor. You can search by role and state to surface companies with documented sponsorship activity in Ohio's manufacturing, aerospace, and industrial sectors, which saves significant time compared to unfiltered job searches.
Are there state-specific considerations for engineering technicians seeking sponsorship in Ohio?
Ohio's prevailing wage requirements apply to H-1B petitions, meaning employers must pay the DOL-determined wage for engineering technician roles in the specific metropolitan area where you'll work. Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati each have distinct prevailing wage levels. Ohio's concentration of automotive and aerospace manufacturing means many technician roles involve hands-on production environments, which can affect how employers classify the position for specialty occupation purposes.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored engineering technician jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
