Summary
The QC Scientist I /Analytical Chemist performs routine chemical analyses, testing, and documentation of raw materials, in-process samples, calibrations, and laboratory projects within the QC Chemistry Laboratory. The role supports internal development and manufacturing operations by executing established testing procedures, maintaining compliance with quality standards, and accurately documenting and communicating analytical results. The position requires attention to detail, adherence to SOPs, cGMP, GLP, and safety requirements, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine chemical and physical testing of raw materials using internally developed and compendial test methods.
- Execute validated analytical methods for pharmaceutical raw materials, including testing for strength, identity, impurities, and characteristics.
- Utilize HPLC, GC, spectroscopy, and traditional wet chemistry techniques.
- Recognize and report out-of-specification (OOS), unexpected, and non-routine analytical or product results.
- Perform daily instrument calibrations and verifications as required.
- Accurately document testing activities, observations, and analytical results.
- Record and report laboratory data in accordance with established laboratory procedures and systems.
- Prepare test solutions, media, reagents, and mobile phases.
- Clean and maintain laboratory work areas and instrumentation.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and safety guidelines.
- Maintain compliance with company and facility quality standards.
- Support training, continuous learning, and additional laboratory assignments as needed.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or other Physical Science discipline required.
- Experience performing chemical testing using chromatographic, spectroscopic, analytical, or compendial testing methods preferred.
- Knowledge of HPLC, GC, spectroscopy, wet chemistry, and basic analytical laboratory techniques.
- Understanding of qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis.
- Familiarity with cGMP, GLP, SOPs, and pharmaceutical quality requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to accurately document and communicate test results.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations and analyze laboratory data.
