Which technology companies in Ohio sponsor H-2B visas?
Ohio-based technology employers that have filed H-2B labor condition applications include IT services firms, software contractors, and managed services providers concentrated in Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati. Large enterprises with Ohio operations in sectors like financial technology, healthcare IT, and logistics software have historically appeared in DOL disclosure data. Because sponsorship activity changes each fiscal year, reviewing current OFLC filing records gives the most accurate picture of active sponsors.
Which Ohio cities have the most technology H-2B sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads Ohio for technology H-2B activity, supported by a dense concentration of insurance technology, fintech, and enterprise software employers in the metro area. Cleveland's healthcare IT and manufacturing technology sectors also generate periodic H-2B filings. Cincinnati contributes through its logistics technology and consumer goods technology employers. Smaller markets like Dayton and Akron occasionally appear in DOL disclosure data for specialized IT roles tied to defense and polymer industries.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship?
H-2B covers temporary nonagricultural workers, so qualifying technology roles must reflect a genuine temporary or seasonal business need rather than a permanent staffing gap. In practice, Ohio employers have used H-2B for roles such as software implementation specialists brought in for a fixed-duration project, IT support technicians tied to a seasonal product launch, and network infrastructure contractors engaged for a defined upgrade cycle. Roles requiring ongoing indefinite employment generally do not meet the temporary need standard.
How do I find technology H-2B sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by visa type and state, making it straightforward to browse verified technology H-2B opportunities in Ohio without sifting through postings from employers with no sponsorship history. You can search by city or region within Ohio and filter specifically for H-2B-eligible technology roles. Supplementing a Migrate Mate search with OFLC Wage Search records lets you confirm which Ohio employers have active or recent H-2B certifications in technology occupations.
Are there Ohio-specific considerations for H-2B technology sponsorship?
Ohio does not impose state-level visa sponsorship requirements beyond federal H-2B rules, but a few practical factors matter. Ohio's tech sector skews toward enterprise and B2B software rather than consumer startups, so many H-2B technology filings are tied to project-based IT contracts rather than product companies. Ohio employers must comply with federal prevailing wage requirements, which OFLC determines by occupation and county. Workers should also verify Ohio state tax obligations, as nonresident H-2B workers are subject to Ohio income tax on wages earned in the state.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B technology jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
