Performs high-quality data abstraction and ongoing data collection of surgical patients, generating reports, analyzing data, and assisting with data for research projects.
Essential Functions:
- Validates and submits surgical data and participates in data audits as needed.
- Collects data on preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative variables for inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Participates in surgical quality improvement efforts and hospital-wide performance improvement teams as assigned, collaborating to review results, analyze data, and prepare reports.
- Participates in strategy development and ensures compliance with quality tracking processes to meet verification standards.
- Evaluates the quality and efficiency of care provision throughout the surgical care continuum.
Education Requirement:
BSN, required.
Licensure Requirement:
State of Ohio nursing license, required.
Certifications:
- National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) certification within 90 days of hire, required.
- Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) certification within 90 days of hire, required.
Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data.
Experience:
- Two years of experience in a medical, surgical, or Perioperative setting, required.
- Experience with surgical patients, required.
- Pediatric experience preferred.
