Which science and research companies sponsor TN visas in Ohio?
Ohio has a concentration of research-intensive employers that have historically sponsored TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals. Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Sherwin-Williams (materials science and R&D), and pharmaceutical manufacturers in the Columbus and Cincinnati corridors are among the larger employers in this space. University research centers, including those affiliated with Ohio State University and Case Western Reserve University, also hire TN-eligible scientists and researchers for qualifying roles.
Which cities in Ohio have the most science and research TN sponsorship jobs?
Columbus is the largest hub, anchored by Battelle, Ohio State University research programs, and a growing biotech presence. Cleveland follows closely, with strengths in biomedical research connected to the Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University. Akron has a distinct niche in polymer and materials science research. Cincinnati rounds out the top tier, with pharmaceutical and consumer goods R&D tied to employers in that metro area.
What types of science and research roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship in Ohio?
TN visa eligibility for science and research roles requires the position to fall within a designated TN occupation category, such as Biologist, Chemist, Computer Systems Analyst, Physicist, or Scientific Technician/Technologist. The role must also require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Common qualifying positions in Ohio include research scientist, analytical chemist, polymer scientist, environmental scientist, and laboratory research associate, provided the specific job duties align with the applicable TN category.
How do I find science & research TN sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by TN visa sponsorship, the science and research industry, and Ohio as the target state to surface roles where employers have indicated sponsorship willingness. Because TN sponsorship does not require USCIS petitions or lottery selection, some Ohio employers who avoid H-1B visa sponsorship will still consider TN candidates, making targeted filtering on Migrate Mate more useful than broad job searches.
Are there any Ohio-specific considerations for TN sponsorship in science and research roles?
Ohio's research institutions often hire through academic or government-adjacent contracts, which can affect how sponsorship is structured. Roles at federally funded research centers like Battelle may involve security clearance considerations that can complicate or limit TN eligibility for some candidates. Additionally, Ohio's strong polymer and materials science cluster in Akron tends to favor candidates with highly specialized technical degrees, meaning the degree-to-job-duty alignment that TN requires is particularly important to document carefully in this region.
