Search Business Development Jobs in OklahomaBusiness Development Jobs in Oklahoma: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies sponsor visas for business development roles in Oklahoma?
Energy majors like Devon Energy, ONEOK, and Williams Companies in Oklahoma City and Tulsa have sponsored visas for business development professionals. Aerospace and defense contractors, including NORDAM and American Airlines' maintenance operations in Tulsa, also hire in this space. Larger employers with established HR and legal infrastructure are generally more likely to take on the sponsorship process for business development candidates.
Which visa types are most common for business development roles in Oklahoma?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for business development roles in Oklahoma, typically requiring a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field and a qualifying specialty occupation determination. Canadians and Mexicans may qualify under the TN visa in the Management Consultant category. Australians may be eligible for the E-3 visa. Each pathway has distinct employer filing requirements and timelines.
Which cities in Oklahoma have the most business development sponsorship jobs?
Oklahoma City and Tulsa account for the overwhelming majority of business development visa sponsorship activity in the state. Oklahoma City leads in energy, healthcare, and government contracting sectors. Tulsa has a stronger concentration in aerospace, manufacturing, and financial services. Norman and Edmond, as Oklahoma City suburbs with proximity to the University of Oklahoma, see occasional spillover hiring from regional headquarters.
How to find business development visa sponsorship jobs in Oklahoma?
Migrate Mate filters business development jobs specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify Oklahoma-based roles where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor. Rather than sorting through hundreds of postings manually, you can browse roles filtered to Oklahoma's energy, aerospace, and healthcare sectors, which are the most active for business development sponsorship in the state.
Are there any state-specific considerations for business development visa sponsorship in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma's economy is heavily tied to energy commodity cycles, which can affect hiring velocity for business development roles in oil and gas. Employers filing H-1B petitions for business development positions must demonstrate the role qualifies as a specialty occupation, which can require more documentation for generalist BD titles compared to technical roles. The University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University supply some international talent through OPT, creating a local pipeline employers sometimes hire from before pursuing full sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored business development jobs in Oklahoma?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
