Which companies in Oregon sponsor visas for customer engineers?
Intel is one of Oregon's most active visa sponsors, with significant engineering operations in Hillsboro. Other Oregon-based employers that have sponsored customer engineer roles include Nike, Daimler Trucks North America, and technology firms in the Portland metro. Cloud infrastructure and semiconductor companies with Oregon offices also appear regularly in Department of Labor LCA filings for customer-facing technical positions.
Which visa types are most common for customer engineer roles in Oregon?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for customer engineer positions in Oregon, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with advanced degrees may also pursue EB-2 immigrant visa pathways. Australian citizens have access to the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and is worth considering for qualifying roles.
Which cities in Oregon have the most customer engineer sponsorship jobs?
Portland and the surrounding metro area, including Hillsboro and Beaverton, account for the large majority of customer engineer sponsorship activity in Oregon. Hillsboro is home to Intel's largest U.S. manufacturing campus, generating consistent demand for technical roles. Eugene has a smaller but growing tech presence, partly driven by University of Oregon graduate pipelines, though Portland remains the primary hub for international candidates.
How to find customer engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship willingness, so you can search customer engineer roles in Oregon without sorting through positions that won't consider international candidates. The platform surfaces employers in Portland, Hillsboro, and other Oregon markets that have a documented history of H-1B and other visa filings, making it more efficient than broad job searches for candidates who need sponsorship.
Are there any Oregon-specific considerations for customer engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Oregon's concentration of semiconductor and hardware companies means customer engineer roles here often require deeper technical knowledge than in purely software-focused markets, which can strengthen a specialty occupation determination for H-1B purposes. The University of Oregon and Oregon State University both feed talent into local tech hiring pipelines, and employers familiar with sponsoring OPT students may be more open to continuing sponsorship through H-1B. Oregon has no state income tax, which affects overall compensation context when evaluating offers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored customer engineer jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
