Which companies sponsor visas for customer engineers in Massachusetts?
Technology companies with significant Massachusetts presences, including HubSpot, Akamai, Cisco Systems, PTC, and Wayfair, have filed H-1B Labor Condition Applications for customer-facing engineering roles. Cloud and enterprise software firms headquartered or with major offices in the Boston area tend to sponsor most frequently, as customer engineer positions there typically require specialized technical credentials that support specialty occupation classification.
Which visa types are most common for customer engineer roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most commonly used visa for customer engineers in Massachusetts, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, which satisfies the specialty occupation standard. Candidates already holding L-1 intracompany transferee status or O-1 extraordinary ability visas also fill these roles at larger multinationals with Massachusetts offices.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most customer engineer sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge account for the largest share of customer engineer sponsorship activity in Massachusetts, driven by the concentration of enterprise software, cloud infrastructure, and biotech-adjacent technology companies in those areas. Waltham and Burlington, which host sizable corporate campuses for companies like Oracle, Kronos (UKG), and Imprivata, also generate meaningful sponsorship activity for customer-facing technical roles.
How to find customer engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles where employers have an active history of visa sponsorship, making it easier to identify customer engineer openings in Massachusetts without sifting through postings from companies unlikely to sponsor. You can filter by state and role type to see current Massachusetts listings. Reviewing the employer's prior H-1B filings through DOL disclosure data alongside Migrate Mate listings helps assess sponsorship likelihood before applying.
Are there state-specific factors that affect customer engineer visa sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts employers filing H-1B Labor Condition Applications must pay at least the prevailing wage for the specific role and location, which the Department of Labor determines using the Boston-Cambridge-Nashua metropolitan area wage data. The state's high concentration of research universities, including MIT, Harvard, and Northeastern, creates a strong local talent pipeline that also competes for these roles, so sponsored candidates typically bring specialized platform expertise or industry-specific experience that differentiates them.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored customer engineer jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
