INTRODUCTION
The Senior Regional Customer Application Engineer (RCAE) is the primary technical interface with customers across the Americas during the early opportunity development phase, before formal proposal issuance. This role sits at the front end of the Inquiry-to-Remittance (ITR) value stream and is responsible for helping define the right solution early — balancing customer needs, commercial competitiveness, product standardization, and downstream execution readiness.
The RCAE shapes opportunities before they enter firm proposal by clarifying technical scope, identifying key assumptions, evaluating standard versus non-standard configurations, and positioning GE Vernova solutions in a way that improves bid quality and execution confidence. The RCAE is expected not only to support opportunities, but to improve the quality, clarity, and executability of what enters the downstream proposal process. Decisions made in this role have significant downstream impact on safety, quality, schedule, cost, and risk.
This is a customer-facing technical-commercial role for individuals with strong experience in gas turbines, thermal power generation, and power plant architecture, combined with the ability to influence project development strategy. The role requires sound engineering judgment, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to translate complex customer needs into practical, executable solutions. Success in this role requires a strong bias toward standard solutions and the judgment to distinguish between true customer requirements and preference-driven deviations.
Given current market demand, this role is increasingly engaged in data center and other fast-cycle power development opportunities, where customers are making tradeoffs across speed-to-power, efficiency, redundancy philosophy, emissions/permitting, footprint, flexibility, expandability, and capital deployment. The RCAE must be able to credibly engage in these early architecture and value trade discussions and guide customers toward solutions aligned with GE Vernova’s product strategy and execution model.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the primary early-stage technical interface for assigned opportunities across the Americas prior to firm proposal.
- Lead early technical engagement with customers, developers, EPCs, utilities, IPPs, and strategic partners to understand project drivers, decision criteria, schedule needs, and key technical assumptions.
- Define and recommend the optimal technical solution and positioning strategy for each opportunity, with strong bias toward standard, executable offerings.
- Shape opportunities to improve readiness before formal proposal, including clarifying configuration, scope boundaries, customer requirements, and major technical/commercial risks.
- Identify and communicate where customer requirements align with standard product offerings and where deviations introduce cost, schedule, execution, or approval risk.
- Support customer discussions and internal decision-making related to power plant architecture and value trades, including topics such as:
- simple cycle vs combined cycle
- heavy-duty gas turbine vs aeroderivative solution pathways, including when to engage the appropriate specialist team
- phased buildout strategies
- reliability/redundancy philosophy
- efficiency vs speed-to-power tradeoffs
- emissions/permitting constraints
- plant footprint and site considerations
- black start, islanding, and grid interface considerations
- Engage credibly in data center power generation discussions, including onsite generation strategies, architecture tradeoffs, and the technical/commercial implications of customer priorities such as schedule certainty, load growth, resilience, efficiency, and standardization.
- Use plant performance and thermodynamic modeling tools to evaluate and develop simple cycle, combined cycle, CHP, CCS, and other thermal power configurations as appropriate within RCAE scope.
- Conduct or coordinate configuration optimization and high-level lifecycle/economic value assessments of GE Vernova and competitive solutions during early opportunity shaping.
- Work closely with Sales, Product Line, Value Solutions Leaders, Application Engineering, and other functions to align opportunity strategy, technical positioning, and support needs.
- Coordinate with adjacent technical teams where customer interest includes offerings outside the RCAE team’s primary technical ownership, including aeroderivative opportunities as applicable.
- Provide technical content and support for customer presentations, workshops, and strategy discussions, both in-person and virtually.
- Respond to pre-RFP customer requests for technical information, including support for permitting, emissions, interconnection, and preliminary design basis discussions.
- Define and communicate to downstream proposal and execution teams the opportunity background, recommended configuration, major assumptions, known risks, customer expectations, and required approvals or exceptions.
- Gather market intelligence, competitor insights, and customer feedback to improve commercial positioning, standard offerings, and solution strategies.
- Provide voice-of-customer and market feedback to internal engineering, product, and commercial teams regarding emerging customer needs, product gaps, and opportunity trends.
- Support a Lean operating culture by helping reduce rework, improve clarity early, and strengthen standard work across the front end of the commercial process.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college.
- Significant experience in thermal power generation, gas turbine applications, power plant engineering, project development, proposal engineering, commercial operations, or customer application engineering.
- Demonstrated technical and/or commercial experience with one or more of the following:
- heavy-duty gas turbines
- combined cycle or simple cycle plant configuration
- steam turbine / generator / HRSG integration
- thermal plant development and evaluation
- data center development, architecture, behind the meter power, infrastructure & economics
- Experience engaging customers or commercial teams in technical discussions that influence project direction, equipment selection, or plant architecture.
- Ability to evaluate technical requirements, customer objectives, and business constraints together and convert them into practical solution recommendations.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly across the Americas for customer meetings, workshops, and internal collaboration, approximately 20% or as required by business needs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced degree in Engineering, Business, or related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; Spanish and/or Portuguese strongly desired.
- Extensive technical and commercial experience within the power generation industry.
- Strong knowledge of GE Vernova Gas Power products, plant configurations, and the broader power generation value chain, including awareness of adjacent offerings and when to engage specialist teams.
- Strong grasp of power plant thermodynamics, plant performance analysis, and technical configuration tradeoffs.
- Experience with economic evaluation, lifecycle cost analysis, and customer value-based technical positioning.
- Ability to lead discussions that connect technical architecture decisions to business outcomes, including schedule, risk, cost, and long-term asset value.
- Familiarity with data center power generation opportunity development, including customer decision drivers and architecture tradeoffs related to speed-to-power, resilience, efficiency, scalability, and site constraints.
- Ability to assess and explain value trades in early-stage power generation decisions, particularly where customer preference may diverge from standard, lower-risk execution models.
- Strong systems thinking and analytical problem-solving capability.
- Strong understanding of market trends, competitor positioning, and evolving customer needs across utilities, IPPs, developers, industrials, and large load customers.
- Ability to work effectively across regional and global teams in a highly matrixed environment.
- Lean mindset with a focus on clarity, standardization, flow, and reduction of non-value-added work.
- Experience or expertise in strategic growth areas such as:
- hyperscale and colocation data center power solutions
- LNG and midstream infrastructure
- industrial cogeneration / CHP
- grid-constrained or behind-the-meter generation
- hydrogen-capable solutions

COMPENSATION
- Salary Range: $113,200.00 and $188,800.00.
- The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
- Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
