Which companies sponsor visas for product engineers in Oregon?
Intel is one of Oregon's largest visa sponsors for engineering roles, particularly at its Hillsboro campus where product and process engineering are core functions. Nike and Adidas sponsor product engineers in their Portland-area technology divisions. Smaller but active sponsors include Daimler Trucks North America, Precision Castparts, and various Portland-based software companies. Sponsorship activity varies by team and hiring cycle, so confirming with each employer directly is worth the effort.
Which visa types are most common for product engineers in Oregon?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for product engineers in Oregon, as most product engineering roles qualify as specialty occupations requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. Candidates with advanced degrees may also see H-1B advanced degree exemption registrations. For engineers from Canada or Mexico, the TN visa is a faster alternative when the role falls under eligible USMCA occupations such as engineer. Some employers also use the L-1 visa for internal transfers into Oregon-based product teams.
Which cities in Oregon have the most product engineer sponsorship jobs?
Portland and its surrounding metro area, including Hillsboro and Beaverton, account for the large majority of product engineer sponsorship activity in Oregon. Intel's Hillsboro campus alone employs thousands of engineers and regularly sponsors international workers. Portland proper hosts software and consumer product companies across the Pearl District and inner eastside. Corvallis, home to Oregon State University and a cluster of technology companies, also sees periodic product engineering sponsorship, though at lower volume than the Portland metro.
How to find product engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters product engineer roles by visa sponsorship status, so you can focus on Oregon employers already open to sponsoring. Because sponsorship intent is not always stated clearly in general job postings, using a platform like Migrate Mate that screens for sponsorship history saves significant time. Filtering by Oregon and product engineering on Migrate Mate surfaces roles across Portland, Hillsboro, and Corvallis from employers with documented sponsorship activity.
Are there state-specific factors that affect product engineer sponsorship in Oregon?
Oregon's concentration of semiconductor manufacturing, particularly around Intel's Washington County operations, creates consistent demand for product and process engineers with specialized hardware backgrounds. Oregon State University and Portland State University supply a pipeline of engineering graduates, which means employers are accustomed to sponsoring international students on OPT before transitioning them to H-1B status. Oregon does not impose state-level immigration requirements beyond federal obligations, but employers in the semiconductor sector may require security clearances that can limit sponsorship eligibility for some roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product engineer jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
