Which companies sponsor visas for product software engineers in Oregon?
Intel is the largest visa sponsor for software engineers in Oregon, with its Hillsboro campus consistently filing H-1B petitions for product-focused engineering roles. Other active sponsors include Nike and Adidas in Beaverton, as well as Portland-based companies in the fintech, e-commerce, and cloud infrastructure sectors. Larger employers with established HR and legal teams tend to have more active sponsorship programs.
Which visa types are most common for product software engineer roles in Oregon?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for product software engineers in Oregon, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. International candidates from Australia may qualify for the E-3 visa, Canadians and Mexicans may use the TN visa, and those with extraordinary ability can pursue the O-1A.
Which cities in Oregon have the most product software engineer sponsorship jobs?
Portland and the surrounding metro area, including Beaverton and Hillsboro, account for the overwhelming majority of product software engineer sponsorship jobs in Oregon. Intel's Hillsboro campus alone generates substantial H-1B filings annually. Eugene has a smaller but active tech presence connected to the University of Oregon. Outside these areas, sponsorship opportunities are limited.
How to find product software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship, so you can search product software engineer roles in Oregon without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. The platform aggregates openings from employers who have demonstrated willingness to sponsor, which saves significant time compared to applying broadly and asking about sponsorship later in the process.
Are there any Oregon-specific considerations for product software engineers seeking sponsorship?
Oregon's tech hiring is heavily concentrated around the Portland metro and Intel's Washington County campuses, so university pipelines from Oregon State University and Portland State University feed into local employer networks worth understanding. Oregon does not have a state income tax on wages from employers headquartered outside the state under specific circumstances, but product software engineers on H-1B status are subject to standard federal tax obligations regardless of employer location.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product software engineer jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
