Which companies sponsor visas for project specialists in Oregon?
Intel and Nike are among the most active H-1B visa sponsors in Oregon for project-related roles, alongside Oregon Health and Science University, PacifiCorp, and a range of Portland-based technology firms. Semiconductor and clean energy companies in the Hillsboro-Beaverton corridor also file regularly for project specialists, particularly those managing technical implementations or cross-functional programs.
Which visa types are most common for project specialist roles in Oregon?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for project specialist roles in Oregon, provided the position qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as engineering, information technology, or business. Some roles at universities or nonprofit research institutions may qualify for cap-exempt H-1B filings. TN visa status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories.
Which cities in Oregon have the most project specialist sponsorship jobs?
Portland accounts for the largest share of project specialist sponsorship jobs in Oregon, driven by its concentration of technology companies, healthcare systems, and professional services firms. Hillsboro and Beaverton, home to Intel's largest U.S. campus, are also significant. Salem, Eugene, and Corvallis see smaller volumes, often tied to state government agencies, Oregon State University, and University of Oregon-affiliated employers.
How to find project specialist visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate lets you filter project specialist roles specifically by visa sponsorship availability and state, so you're not sorting through listings that won't support your immigration status. For Oregon, focus on employers in the Portland metro and Silicon Forest areas, where sponsorship activity is highest. Migrate Mate's job board is updated regularly with verified sponsorship information for international candidates.
Are there state-specific considerations for project specialists seeking visa sponsorship in Oregon?
Oregon employers sponsoring H-1B workers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements, which are benchmarked to Oregon-specific wage data by occupation and region. Portland metro prevailing wages for project specialist roles tend to be higher than in smaller Oregon markets. Oregon's public universities, including Oregon State and University of Oregon, can sponsor cap-exempt H-1B petitions, which may benefit candidates already working in academic or research-adjacent project roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project specialist jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
