Which companies sponsor visas for project specialists in Illinois?
Chicago-area employers with consistent H-1B sponsorship records for project specialist roles include Accenture, Deloitte, Motorola Solutions, United Airlines, Hyatt, and Aon. Technology and consulting firms in the Loop and along the North Shore suburbs account for a significant share of filings. Healthcare systems like Northwestern Medicine and Advocate Health also sponsor project specialists in operational and clinical program roles.
Which visa types are most common for project specialist roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project specialists in Illinois, particularly for roles requiring a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as information systems, business administration, or engineering. L-1B visas appear for intracompany transfers at large multinationals headquartered in Chicago. TN status is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying project management categories under USMCA.
Which cities in Illinois have the most project specialist sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the large majority of project specialist sponsorship activity in Illinois, driven by its concentration of consulting firms, financial institutions, and corporate headquarters. The suburban corridor along I-88, including Naperville, Lisle, and Downers Grove, is a secondary hub with significant tech and manufacturing employers. Schaumburg and Rosemont round out the suburbs most commonly associated with sponsored project roles.
How to find project specialist visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search for project specialist roles in Illinois without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. The platform covers employers across Chicago's consulting, finance, and technology sectors as well as suburban hubs like Naperville and Schaumburg. Filtering by role and state on Migrate Mate surfaces active listings from employers with documented sponsorship histories.
Are there any state-specific considerations for project specialists seeking sponsorship in Illinois?
Illinois employers sponsoring H-1B workers must comply with Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements, which are benchmarked to the Chicago-Naperville-Elgin metropolitan statistical area for most positions. Project specialist roles at large consulting and financial firms in Chicago tend to fall under higher prevailing wage tiers given the city's cost of living. Illinois also has a strong pipeline from universities like University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Northwestern, which feeds international talent directly into sponsored project roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project specialist jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
