Which companies sponsor visas for software design engineers in Oregon?
Intel is one of Oregon's largest sponsors of work visas for software design engineers, with major campuses in Hillsboro and Santa Clara–adjacent operations. Nike and Adidas sponsor engineering roles at their Beaverton headquarters. Precision Castparts, Daimler Trucks North America, and a range of Portland-based software firms also have documented sponsorship histories for technical engineering positions.
Which visa types are most common for software design engineer roles in Oregon?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software design engineers in Oregon, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Candidates from Australia may use the E-3 visa, Canadians and Mexicans may qualify under TN status, and those with extraordinary ability may pursue the O-1A.
Which cities in Oregon have the most software design engineer sponsorship jobs?
Portland and Beaverton account for the majority of software design engineer sponsorship jobs in Oregon. Hillsboro is particularly significant due to Intel's sprawling campus network there. Eugene has a smaller but active tech presence, partly supported by the University of Oregon's computer science graduates. Remote-friendly Oregon employers have also expanded the geographic spread of available roles statewide.
How to find software design engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify Oregon employers actively hiring software design engineers who need work authorization. Rather than sorting through thousands of general postings, you can search directly for software design engineer roles in Oregon where sponsorship is confirmed, saving time during what is often a time-sensitive job search.
Are there any Oregon-specific considerations for software design engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Oregon's Department of Labor enforces prevailing wage requirements tied to H-1B Labor Condition Applications, so employers must offer wages meeting the Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro metropolitan statistical area standards or the relevant regional benchmark. Intel's significant presence in Washington County creates a pipeline of LCA filings you can cross-reference in DOL public disclosure data to gauge active sponsorship activity in the state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software design engineer jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
