Which companies in Georgia sponsor visas for software design engineers?
Atlanta-headquartered technology and financial technology companies are among the most active sponsors for software design engineer roles in Georgia. NCR Voyix, Global Payments, Cox Enterprises, Fiserv's Atlanta offices, and Delta Air Lines' technology division have histories of H-1B visa sponsorship. Large consulting firms with significant Georgia presences, including Infosys and Wipro, also file consistently for software design engineering positions in the state.
Which visa types are most common for software design engineer roles in Georgia?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software design engineers in Georgia, given that the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify under the TN visa. Those with extraordinary ability may explore the O-1A. Australian citizens can consider the E-3 visa as an alternative to the H-1B lottery.
Which cities in Georgia have the most software design engineer sponsorship jobs?
Atlanta accounts for the overwhelming majority of software design engineer sponsorship jobs in Georgia. Midtown Atlanta, anchored by Georgia Tech and a dense cluster of technology companies, generates the highest volume. Buckhead and the Perimeter Center area also host significant employer concentrations. Secondary markets like Alpharetta, Roswell, and Duluth have growing technology employer bases, particularly in financial technology and enterprise software, that sponsor international engineers.
How to find software design engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Georgia?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters software design engineer roles in Georgia by confirmed visa sponsorship, saving you from applying to positions where sponsorship is unavailable. Search within Migrate Mate for Georgia-based software design engineer roles, and prioritize employers in Atlanta's Midtown and Buckhead corridors where sponsorship activity is highest. Filtering by company size can also help, as larger Georgia employers tend to have established immigration processes.
Are there state-specific considerations for software design engineers seeking sponsorship in Georgia?
Georgia does not impose state-level visa sponsorship requirements beyond federal immigration rules, but a few local factors are worth knowing. Georgia Tech's strong computer science and software engineering programs create a competitive local talent pool, which can influence how employers structure roles and degree requirements for sponsorship. The Department of Labor's prevailing wage determinations for software design engineers in the Atlanta metropolitan area reflect local market rates, which employers must meet when filing H-1B petitions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software design engineer jobs in Georgia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
