THE JOB:
The primary role of the AV Design Engineer is to support the design, integration, and implementation of audiovisual technology solutions across hospitality and commercial properties, including public venues, guest rooms, convention centers, and meeting spaces. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to develop, coordinate, and execute A/V system designs and technology integration projects from concept through completion.
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
- Lead the design and development of audiovisual systems for public venues, guest rooms, suites, and convention spaces in collaboration with MGM Resorts Design & Development (MRDD), architects, and external consultants, including preparation of design documentation, drawings, and ROM budgets.
- Review, evaluate, and approve A/V project design drawings to ensure alignment with technical standards, operational requirements, and project objectives.
- Support and coordinate the A/V bidding and procurement process in partnership with MRDD, vendors, consultants, and integration partners.
- Develop and manage Media Technology A/V project bills of materials (BOMs), project budgets, implementation plans, and delivery schedules throughout the project lifecycle.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with A/V consultants, technology vendors, and system integrators to support successful project execution and long-term partnerships.
- Travel regularly to various property locations to oversee project implementation, support corporate technology initiatives, and ensure consistent delivery of guest-facing technology experiences.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience in audiovisual system design, operations, maintenance, or integration within commercial, gaming, hospitality, theater, live production, or residential environments.
- Proven experience managing A/V and technology-related construction projects, including coordinating with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution from design through implementation.
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and understand architectural, engineering, and project design drawings, as well as develop and produce technical documentation and system diagrams.
- Advanced knowledge of professional audio/video equipment, associated cabling standards, digital audio transport technologies, IPTV systems, and large-scale IP network infrastructure.
- Experience with audiovisual control systems and DSP technologies, including Crestron, AMX, BSS, Media Matrix, and related audio hardware/software platforms, is preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and technical skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to effectively collaborate with business partners, vendors, consultants, and cross-functional teams.
