Search Tax Manager Jobs in OregonTax Manager Jobs in Oregon: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies in Oregon sponsor visas for tax managers?
Portland-based multinationals and large professional services firms account for most tax manager sponsorships in Oregon. Nike, Precision Castparts, and Daimler Trucks North America have filed LCAs for senior tax roles. The Big Four accounting firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG) maintain Portland offices and have established sponsorship infrastructure for qualified tax professionals. Regional mid-size firms sponsor less frequently and typically require prior U.S. work authorization.
Which visa types are most common for tax manager roles in Oregon?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for tax managers in Oregon, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at minimum a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or taxation. Tax managers already in the U.S. on OPT or STEM OPT are common candidates for H-1B sponsorship. The O-1A is an option for tax professionals with demonstrated national or international recognition, though it requires substantial evidence of distinction.
Which cities in Oregon have the most tax manager sponsorship jobs?
Portland accounts for the large majority of tax manager sponsorship activity in Oregon, driven by its density of corporate headquarters, Big Four offices, and regional financial services employers. Beaverton and Hillsboro in the metro area also see activity given Nike's campus and the broader tech corridor. Salem has limited but present demand from state-adjacent industries. Eugene's market is smaller, with some sponsorship tied to the University of Oregon and local manufacturing.
How to find tax manager visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it practical to search for tax manager roles in Oregon without manually vetting each employer. Because many Oregon employers don't advertise sponsorship explicitly in job postings, a filtered search on Migrate Mate saves significant time. Targeting Portland-area postings from large multinationals and Big Four offices gives the best odds of finding active sponsorship opportunities.
Are there any Oregon-specific factors that affect tax manager visa sponsorship?
Oregon has no state income tax on wages paid to nonresident employees working outside the state, but tax managers employed and physically working in Oregon are subject to Oregon state income tax. For H-1B purposes, employers must pay the prevailing wage for tax managers in the Portland metro area, which reflects a high-cost professional market. Oregon's relatively concentrated corporate base in Portland means fewer sponsoring employers statewide compared to larger states, making network-building in the metro area particularly important.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax manager jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
