Which companies sponsor visas for cloud software engineers in Pennsylvania?
Comcast in Philadelphia, SAP America in Newtown Square, and UPMC in Pittsburgh are among the most consistent H-1B sponsors for cloud engineering roles in Pennsylvania. Insurance and financial services firms like Lincoln Financial and Vanguard also file regularly. Consulting firms such as Infosys and Wipro, with significant Pennsylvania operations, sponsor cloud engineers across multiple client engagements.
Which visa types are most common for cloud software engineer roles in Pennsylvania?
The H-1B is the most common visa for cloud software engineers in Pennsylvania, as cloud architecture, DevOps, and platform engineering roles consistently qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. Candidates already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT may also find Pennsylvania employers willing to bridge to H-1B sponsorship, particularly in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most cloud software engineer sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia leads the state for cloud engineering sponsorship volume, driven by its concentration of financial services, healthcare IT, and media technology employers. Pittsburgh is a strong second, with Carnegie Mellon University's proximity fueling cloud and AI hiring at both established tech firms and research-adjacent companies. Malvern and Newtown Square, suburban Philadelphia communities, also see significant activity from enterprise software companies like SAP and Siemens Healthineers.
How to find cloud software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to browse cloud software engineer openings in Pennsylvania without sorting through positions that don't sponsor. You can filter by state and role to surface employers in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and surrounding areas that have a documented history of filing H-1B petitions for cloud engineering positions, saving significant research time.
Are there any Pennsylvania-specific considerations for cloud software engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Pennsylvania's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B roles are determined by the Department of Labor using metropolitan area data, so wages in Philadelphia metro are benchmarked separately from Pittsburgh metro. Engineers targeting Pittsburgh benefit from the city's university and research institution pipeline, which has shaped a culture of tech sponsorship there. Pennsylvania also has no state-level visa restrictions, so federal H-1B rules apply uniformly across all employers in the state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud software engineer jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
