- Implement small, well-defined coding tasks (for example, data transformations, simple integrations,) and internal utilities - using languages such as Java, JavaScript, SQL, or Python under guidance from senior engineers.
- Use AI-assisted development tools (for example, code assistants, test generators, and documentation helpers) to prototype improvements, refactor existing code, and document processes in a safe, compliant way.
- Experiment with AI-based automation (scripts, prompts, or small utilities) to streamline repetitive team workflows and propose measurable improvements that support faster, more consistent implementations.
- Support other Solution Service owners by organizing and prioritizing the Solution Services backlog, maintaining clear documentation, and ensuring alignment with overall Commercial Lines Services strategies.
- Document small process issues the team encounters and propose pragmatic, incremental changes to improve business processes and ways of working.
- Participate in agile ceremonies (standups, planning, reviews, retrospectives) and selected field activities (workshops, pilots, go-live support) taking ownership of well-defined follow-up tasks that improve solution adoption and customer outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal Guidewire teams and external partners on clearly scoped tasks that contribute to the development and adoption of USBC Solutions.
- Contribute to knowledge enablement for consultants by drafting or updating quick-reference guides, checklists, and basic training materials for USBC Solution Services.

Which companies sponsor visas for technical solutions engineers in Pennsylvania?
Comcast and its technology subsidiaries in Philadelphia have a consistent H-1B filing history for technical solutions and pre-sales engineering roles. SAP America, headquartered in Newtown Square, regularly sponsors for client-facing technical positions. Pittsburgh-based companies in cloud infrastructure and enterprise software, including those with ties to Carnegie Mellon's commercialization ecosystem, also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data for this role category.
Which visa types are most common for technical solutions engineer roles in Pennsylvania?
The H-1B is the most common visa for technical solutions engineers in Pennsylvania, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, satisfying the specialty occupation requirement. Candidates with a master's degree may benefit from the advanced degree exemption during the H-1B lottery. Australian citizens working with Pennsylvania employers may also pursue the E-3 visa as an alternative pathway.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most technical solutions engineer sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia accounts for the largest share of sponsorship activity for this role in Pennsylvania, driven by Comcast, enterprise software firms, and a dense base of financial services technology companies. Pittsburgh is a secondary hub, particularly for companies connected to the city's AI and cloud computing sector. The suburban Philadelphia corridor, including Malvern, Wayne, and Newtown Square, also concentrates employer headquarters with active sponsorship programs.
How to find technical solutions engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search technical solutions engineer roles in Pennsylvania without sifting through positions that don't support international candidates. Migrate Mate's job board surfaces employers with documented H-1B and other sponsorship histories in this role category, which is especially useful given that Pennsylvania's sponsoring employers are spread across Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and several suburban technology corridors.
Are there state-specific considerations for technical solutions engineers pursuing sponsorship in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania's prevailing wage determinations for technical solutions engineers are set at the county level, meaning salaries in Philadelphia County are benchmarked differently than those in Allegheny County or Chester County. Employers must meet Department of Labor wage requirements specific to the work location when filing a Labor Condition Application. Pennsylvania also has a strong university pipeline through Carnegie Mellon, Penn State, and Drexel, which means many sponsoring employers are already familiar with OPT-to-H-1B transitions for international graduates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical solutions engineer jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
